Lavenham Rectangular Mirror, 100x140cm

Lavenham’s a mirror that works really well in period properties where a balance between decorative details and simple form look refined and timeless in the same way that cornicing does. Combining a pared-back frame with classical fluting (or reeding) around the glass, this is a mirror with slightly Gustavian style.

The-materials

Lavenham’s decorative mouldings are made of resin to achieve a really high level of detail. And the wood for the main body of the mirror comes from the Paulownia tree. It’s by far the fastest growing, deciduous hardwood tree in the world. And a single plantation can be harvested several times offering a sustainable, renewable source of timber. You can read all about Paulownia wood on our journal.

The-finish

The Lavenham mirror is painted in our Driftwood colour. It’s a versatile neutral shade that will sit easily in most styles of home. And to add a little texture and depth, it’s given a relaxed, distressed finish.

Design-details

Lavenham has a stepped, architectural frame with a bevelled and fluted inner border that makes a clear nod to Gustavian style.

Ways-to-use-it

Mirrors create a sense of space – hung at the end of a short hallway, they’ll add depth; hung either side of a narrow hallway, they’ll add width. They boost natural light – so position one opposite a window in a dark hallway or a dark corner of a room. A mirror can create an interesting focal point – place one behind a special object you want to highlight, and so create a reflection of it in another part of the room.
